Spotlight on Enhancements
to XFDTD v6.4
1) Antennas in XFDTD
One of the major applications for XFDTD is in the area of
antenna design and analysis. While earlier versions of XFDTD
have always offered features that assist designers to obtain
solutions quickly, v6.4 includes addition expanded capabilities.
The earlier version of XFDTD provided a single output
window for antenna results. Now, due to the expanded
features and capabilties, the results from antenna

2) Material Libraries in XFDTD
the main features to be added are:
· Antenna Diversity providing correlation between
The material handling and recording of material data has

materials have been added.
Max gain
Max lobe direction
Material data may be loaded from existing models:
S‑parameter information (2 parts)
· Import from an existing geometry file
Efficiency
· Import from a set of directories containing geometry files
· Antenna over an infinite ground plane
At this time the ground may only be PEC but a lossy
ground calculation is under development
· Ludwig gain
· Antenna efficiency may be calculated over the full
pattern, upper hemisphere, open sky and user‑defined
partial pattern
· Displaying 3D patterns while viewing numerical results
Creating Material Libraries
The new tabs are shown below:
Material data may be loaded, saved, edited and deleted
to/from libraries in many ways:

These capabilities are in addition to the hierarchical
importation of material data from CAD files.
