Achieve Smoother S Parameter or Impedance Plots

Higher resolution for frequency domain plots can easily be obtained by increasing the FFT size. XF7 uses an FFT to transform time domain signals to frequency domain. The size is an input to the FFT which directly affects the distance between frequency samples in the output.

In the Result Browser, instead of double clicking on the output of interest, right click and choose Create Line Graph, uncheck the Automatic FFT Size and increase the value. If FFT Size is not an option, change the Data Transform to FFT. Be careful setting the value greater than 23 because the FFT is a memory- and processor-intensive algorithm and most computers cannot support larger sizes.

Once a good FFT size is determined, change the default application behavior in the Edit -> Application Preferences settings.
