mmWave Ray-Tracing Simulation for 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA)
With 5G rollout planned for 2018 by U.S. carriers, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) will be the first commercial application available to consumers. Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) will enable receiving and distribution of these 5G signals using FWA User Equipment (UE) inside residential premises.
Network planners use mmWave planners to design their systems to achieve optimal throughput. Remcom’s Wireless InSite® 3D ray tracer considers the multipath from the environment along with diffuse scattering off structures at 5G frequencies. In this presentation, an example showcasing FWA into a resident building is applied in a dense urban environment. We also consider maximizing throughput with increasing the number of antennas at the Basestation and CPE.
